Apex Trader Funding vs Tradeify: A Trade Copier User's Comparison
Running multiple prop firm accounts with a trade copier? Here's how Apex Trader Funding and Tradeify differ in broker platforms, environments, and copy-trading setup — and what that means for SyncFutures users.

Apex Trader Funding and Tradeify are two of the most popular futures prop firms for traders running multiple accounts with a trade copier. Both support Tradovate and Rithmic. Both allow copy trading between your own accounts. But the similarities end there — and the differences matter when you're deciding which accounts to connect, which to use as master, and how to set up your copy rules.
This guide covers what's actually different between the two from a trade-copier user's perspective.
Broker Platforms
Apex Trader Funding: When you purchase an Apex evaluation, you choose your platform connection — Tradovate, Rithmic, or WealthCharts. That choice is locked in at purchase — you can't switch later. If you want both a Tradovate Apex account and a Rithmic Apex account, you buy two separate evaluations. (SyncFutures connects to Tradovate and Rithmic; WealthCharts is a standalone Apex-specific platform and isn't a connection option.)
Tradeify: Tradeify offers Tradovate, Rithmic, and WealthCharts connections — Tradovate and Rithmic are both in active use by real Tradeify traders and both work with SyncFutures. Confirm your specific program's rules on mixing brokers directly with Tradeify.
Both brokers are fully supported in SyncFutures. Tradovate connects via OAuth2 (no password entry — you authorize through Tradovate's own login screen). Rithmic connects with your username, password, and Rithmic system name.
Trading Environments: Demo vs Live
This is the biggest practical difference between the two firms for copy-trading setups.
Apex Trader Funding: Apex evaluations and standard funded (Performance) accounts run on the Demo environment. Apex does have a separate live-prop track it may invite consistently profitable traders into, but for the accounts most traders hold day to day, you'll select Demo in SyncFutures whether you're in an eval or a funded account.
Tradeify: Tradeify evaluations (Growth, Select) and its straight-to-sim-funded product (Lightning) run on Demo. Tradeify also has a live-capital tier, Tradeify Elite, for qualifying traders — check your Tradeify account dashboard for your specific qualification path and environment status.
Why does this matter for copy trading? If you're using one account as master and another as slave, they don't need to be on the same environment — SyncFutures handles cross-environment and cross-broker copying without extra configuration. But knowing which environment each account is on helps you set up the connection correctly in SyncFutures.
Setting Up in SyncFutures
Connecting Apex Accounts
- Go to the Accounts page in SyncFutures (web or mobile).
- Add a broker connection — select Tradovate for a Tradovate-based Apex account, or Rithmic for a Rithmic-based Apex account.
- Tradovate Apex: After picking Tradovate, SyncFutures asks which environment before sending you to Tradovate — choose Demo, then authorize on Tradovate's OAuth screen. Apex evals and Performance accounts are on Demo.
- Rithmic Apex: Enter your Rithmic username and password. For the system name, you'll pick it from a dropdown of available Rithmic systems rather than typing or looking it up — SyncFutures populates the list live, and your Apex system will be in there.
- Your accounts will appear and can be assigned as master or slave in your copy rules.
Connecting Tradeify Accounts
- Go to the Accounts page.
- Add a broker connection — select Tradovate or Rithmic depending on which platform your Tradeify account runs on.
- Tradovate Tradeify: Select the correct environment when SyncFutures prompts (Demo for Growth/Select evaluations and Lightning sim-funded accounts; check your Tradeify dashboard if unsure), then authorize via Tradovate's OAuth screen.
- Rithmic Tradeify: Enter your username and password, then pick your system name from the dropdown of available Rithmic systems — SyncFutures populates this list live, so there's nothing to look up or type in.
- Your accounts appear and can be used in copy rules.
Note on Rithmic system names: You don't need to look up or type your system name — SyncFutures shows you a dropdown of available Rithmic systems populated live, and you just select the one matching your prop firm (e.g., a firm-specific system name, or a general one like "Rithmic Paper Trading"). If your connection shows no accounts, double-check you selected the right system from that list.
Which Account Should Be the Master?
For most setups, the account with the most reliable execution and the account you're most comfortable watching is the master. A few practical considerations:
- If you're running multiple Apex accounts (all on Demo), any of them can be the master. Tradovate tends to have a simpler connection flow via OAuth, so Tradovate Apex accounts are straightforward to connect.
- If you're mixing Apex and Tradeify, either firm's account can be master. A common setup: use one Tradeify account (or a separate live brokerage account) as master and copy to multiple Apex evaluations — you trade once, all accounts fill.
- If you're running a Tradovate master with Rithmic slaves, or vice versa, SyncFutures handles the cross-broker symbol mapping automatically.
Running Apex and Tradeify Accounts Simultaneously
Running accounts at both firms is a common setup for traders who want more evaluation windows active at once. SyncFutures can copy from one master to accounts at both Apex and Tradeify in the same copy rule — mix Tradovate and Rithmic slaves in a single group.
With the Starter plan ($39/mo), you get three broker connections. Plans are capped by connections, not by account count — one Tradovate or Rithmic connection covers every account under that login, so if your Apex and Tradeify accounts share a broker login, a single connection can cover several accounts at once. The Professional plan ($89/mo) covers five connections. See all plans on the pricing page.
Copy Trading Rules: What Both Firms Allow
Both Apex Trader Funding and Tradeify allow copy trading between accounts you personally own. What neither firm allows is copying from another trader's accounts, importing external signals, or reselling your trades as a service. A trade copier like SyncFutures, used across your own accounts, is the intended use case.
Copy trades are your own — SyncFutures replicates your fills from master to slave accounts in real time, without any signal feed or third-party account access.

FAQ
Can I use a Tradovate Apex account as master and a Rithmic Tradeify account as slave?
Yes. SyncFutures supports every combination of Tradovate and Rithmic as master or slave. Connect the accounts separately and set up your copy rule in the usual way.
Do I need to run SyncFutures on a VPS?
No. SyncFutures is a cloud service — the copy engine runs 24/7 on our servers. You don't need a VPS, a dedicated machine, or anything running on your desktop. Connect your accounts, set your rules, and close the browser.
What happens to my copy rules at quarterly rollover?
Copy rules in SyncFutures are pinned to a specific contract symbol (e.g., ESU6). When the September contracts roll to December, a rule pointing to ESU6 goes quiet — master fills, nothing copies to slaves. Update the rule's contract to ESZ6 before the roll. The rollover checklist has the full steps.
Can I run multiple Apex accounts on the same plan?
Yes, within your plan's connection limit. Connections are per broker login, not per account, so one Tradovate connection can cover several Apex accounts under the same login. The Starter plan allows three connections total. For more separate broker logins, the Professional plan (five connections) or Ultimate plan (unlimited) adds capacity.
